In the beginning, there was a little Pandora's box...

Charm Junction is the love child of McBurney Junction, a lifestyle store located in Langley, British Columbia, who first opened their doors in the fall of 1999. The store is owned and operated by a team consisting of Karla Barton (loving wife), Reid Barton (gracious husband) and Nikki Martine (Karla's best friend).

PANDORA got its humble start in McBurney Junction as a little box of charms that was kept hidden away under the cash desk. Customers would have to come up to the cash desk and ask for it to be pulled out so they could shop through the small assortment.

Because of it's growing demand with McBurney Junction customers, Karla felt that the PANDORA collection deserved more prominent placement in the store and that it required a dedicated staff of PANDORA experts to service the growing PANDORA fan base properly. Proper showcases were added to the store and stock levels were bumped up and in the spring of 2009, a 250 square foot PANDORA gallery was added to the store and Canada's first PANDORA Shop-in-shop was born.

With the addition of the new Pandora shop right within the existing store, McBurney Junction shoppers now enjoy the largest Pandora selection in the country in a beautiful boutique setting.

Karla Barton - Charm Junction's Queen Bee

Wife, entrepreneur, mother of 2 beautiful princesses Alexa and Lauren and self-professed PANDORA addict, Karla has successfully juggled her time between family and business, a task made simpler by teaming up in business with both her husband and her best friend.

Karla got her start in business when, after almost graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan (she still needs those last 3 credits to bring that paper home – Freud would probably have something to say about that!), she answered an ad in the paper that claimed you could "start today, earn cash tomorrow". This began her career in the glamorous field of door-to-door sales. Moving up the ranks in the organization over the next 5 years, Karla managed to expand her organization to include 4 locations in 4 different cities. It was when Karla moved to Vancouver, BC and met her soon-to-be-husband, Reid, on Valentine's Day (yes; it was love at first site!) that her direct sales days were numbered. Since 80 plus hour workweeks could not make for a happy marriage, Karla looked for a new career more compatible with family life.

This answer came in the form of McBurney Junction when, walking by one day, Karla noticed the "Help Wanted" sign posted in the store window. She has always been passionate about interior design and thought that working part-time in Langley's hippest home décor store could be the start of an exciting new direction in life. Of course, being a true-blooded entrepreneur, working for someone else wasn't going to last for very long.

About a month after Karla started at the store, she struck up this fateful conversation with the current store owner, "In business, you are trying to grow your business for one of two reasons – to expand your business or to sell it. Which are you doing?" To this the store owner replied, "I don't know". Without hesitating, Karla replied, "If you are selling, I'm buying." The rest as they say, is history.

Fast forward 7 years and Karla still wakes up excited to start her day and has the added blessing of working with a truly great group of people at McBurney Junction.

Karla and Nikki are still best friends, Reid and Karla are still happily married and McBurney Junction continues to grow and prosper.
